Day 1 Mingun by boat and Mandalay city tour( by private car)

Meet our guide at the lobby of your hotel in Mandalay and then transfer to the pier for your boat ride to Mingun. The boat sails upstream along Ayerwaddy River; you will see some rural communities living at Riversides.

Visit Patowdawgyi, an unfinished huge stupa built-in 1790. At its entrance, there are two huge lion statues made of concrete. Both stupa and lion statues were badly damaged due to the earthquake in 1839.

After a few minutes' walks to the north, you will see another gigantic monument of Mingun, the huge bell. It has a weight of 90 tons and the second largest ringing bell in the world. Go to Mya Thein Dan pagoda with distinctive architectural style.

Then cruise back to Mandalay.

And proceed to Shwe Kyaung, the old monastery well-known for its fine wood carvings. Since the apartment of the golden palace where king Mindon passed away was dismantled and rebuilt as a monastery near Mandalay hill, it is also called Golden Palace Monastery. Nearby is Kuthodaw is a stupa in the 5.26 hectares wide precinct. There are 729 marble slabs with inscriptions of Buddhist scriptures are erected in the ground of pagoda precinct. Each stone slab is 1.52m long and 1.06 m wide and 0.15 m thick. It is figuratively called the world’s biggest book and the merit of King Mindon. Enjoy the sunset at Mandalay hill offering a panoramic view over the city of Mandalay.

And transfer to your hotel.

Day 2 Sagaing- Inwa- Amarapura (by private car)

In the morning, drive to Sagaing (30 minutes’ drive) and then first stop at Kaungmudaw Pagoda. The drive to Sagaing Hills reputed as a hill retreat for monks and nuns where plenty of old monasteries and nunnery are located among the mountain chain facing at the Irrawaddy River.

Next, visit U Min Thonzae with 30 crescent-shaped caves and Swan Oo Pyone Shin temples to enjoy scenic views along the Irrawaddy and Sagaing Hills. Then go downhill along a tiny mountain road looking at monastery complexes. Stop at Thatkyaditha nunnery to see lunch procession of nuns.

Continue to Inwa old city encircled by three rivers. On arrival at Myint Nga Pier, take a short ferry ride to cross the river and then explore Inwa by the horse carts to see religious monuments, ancient ruins and small communities living in the palace site. You will see Bagaya wooden monastery built-in 1834, leaning watchtower and Mae Nu Oak Kaung(brick monastery).

Afterward, head to Amarapura or Taung Myo situated 11 Km to the south of Mandalay. It has been a royal city twice in 1783 and 1841. Take a short walk across the famous U Pein Bridge at Taungthaman Lake. It is the longest wooden bridge in Myanmar with a length of 1.2 km.
