Tour listed by Butterfly Tours
About this tour

Our full-day, advanced bicycle tour takes you around the lesser-known temples of the Angkor complex! Ride with us through hidden trails, jungles, and local villages, and feast your eyes on the magnificent temples of the Angkor complex! On this tour, you are guaranteed a peaceful ride away from other tourists—and a yummy lunch!

Itinerary

Stop 1: Local Market

We begin our ride with Butterfly Tours’ signature style: A lovely ride through local Cambodian villages. This 15-minute ride takes you away from the luxurious hotels of Siem Reap city to the tiny routes littering local market. Get to know the friendly villagers, and be sure to send out plenty of waves to the little children chasing our bikes!

Stop 2: Angkor Wat's Authentic View Behind

Next, we will take a trail that leads you behind Angkor Wat. This is a route that very few take, guaranteeing a peaceful and unobstructed view of this magnificent complex that holds great historical and religious significance to many Cambodians.

Stop 3: Ancient Stairs of Bakheng Temple

Our trail then leads you around the foot of Bakheng Mountain. Your guide will tell you about the significance of its ancient stairs in relation to Bakheng Temple’s construction, which is guarded by two fierce lions!

Stop 4: Baksei Chamkrong Temple

Just a short distance away is Baksei Chamkrong, a small pyramid-shaped Hindu temple. Baksei Chamkrong, which means “a bird sheltering its wings,” has an interesting legend connected to it. Be sure to listen carefully to this story!

Stop 5: Death Gate

Death Gate. Not as scary as it sounds, but rather, a very significant part of Angkor’s temple complex that kept out many enemies and intruders!

Stop 6: Preah Khan Temple

It was built by supreme king Jayavarman VII. We will visit the beautiful magnificent temple called Preah Khan or Sacred sword temple. You can enjoy the history of Cham's invasion.

Stop 7: Local Lunch

Hungry? We sure are! We will lead you on a hidden trail, where we will then take a longer stop (20 minutes) to relax and enjoy a delicious local lunch!

Stop 8: Pagoda

On our final stop, we will head to a pagoda frequented by the local community. Here, your guide will tell you more about religion in Cambodia, as well as the cultural practices connected to it.
