About this tour
This full-day tour takes you through the rustic paddy fields into the interiors of Siem Reap. Your warm and friendly guides will take you off the beaten track to the local villages, where you can interact with friendly villagers as they go about their day to day lives, and enjoy the beautiful landscape of Siem Reap’s countryside. A delicious local lunch is also included in this tour!
Stop 1: Local Market
Our first stop will be at a bustling local market, where you will be able to take in the sights and sounds of locals buying and selling produce. Discover local products not found anywhere else in the world!
Stop 2: Rice Farming
Next up, hop on a bike ride to the sprawling fields of paddy. Here, your guides will introduce you to the day-to-day routines of local farmers. Many of our guides will be able to give you an in-depth insight into this agricultural activity, as they have worked in the fields with their parents from a very young age.
Stop 3: Rattan Baskets village
On our third stop, we will cycle to a home of a basket weavers. Learn more about this unique and intricate craft, which is traditionally passed down from parents to children.
Stop 4: Local Lunch and Cooking Class
Is anyone hungry yet? We bet you will be by now! Your guides will lead you to our lunch spot at a local village. Lunch will be prepared by locals, and if we arrive ahead of time, you will have the opportunity to help out in the preparation and pick up a few Cambodian cooking skills!
Stop 5: Rice Wine
After the break and local lunch, we will take you to a local rice wine distillery. Here, you will learn more about the processes involved in the making of rice wine as well as its use in holistic medicine. And yes—if you’re wondering—you will also get to sample a taste!
Stop 6: Piggy Bank
We will visit the family who makes a living by using the clay. Actually, it’s a handmade business which is pottery. They make hallow clay animals as a bank for saving the little money of the kids in the countryside. It’s been well-known for Piggy Bank.
Stop 7: Pagoda
On our final stop, we will head to a pagoda frequented by the local community. Here, your guide will tell you more about religion in Cambodia, as well as the cultural practices connected to it.

If you choose to cancel your tour with us due to unforeseen circumstances, both parties will have to agree with the following cancellation policies: Day Tours Prior to the start of your tour, your booking must be confirmed by Butterfly Tours If you have booked our tour through a travel agent, hotel, guesthouse, or any of our partners, please bring the receipt of your payment to our office on the day of your tour If you are incapable of riding your bike or choose to quit halfway through the tour, your tour payment will not be refunded If you cannot continue riding for the full length of tour and you decide to return, you will have to cover the cost of your transportation fee If cancellation is made more than 5 days before the date of departure, we will fully refund your deposit If cancellation is made less than 2 to 4 days before the date of departure, we will refund 50% of your deposit. If cancellation is made less than 48 hours before the date of departure, you will not be entitled to a refund Turning up late at the start of your tour for whatever reason is considered a late cancellation. You will not be entitled to a refund. No refund will be made should you voluntarily leave the tour early for any reason, including not being of adequate ability to ride a bicycle during the tour Long Duration Tours If cancellation is made more than 7 days before the date of departure, we will fully refund your deposit If cancellation is made less than 2 to 6 days before the date of departure, we will refund 50% of your deposit. If cancellation is made less than 48 hours before the date of departure, you will not be entitled to a refund Turning up late at the start of your tour for whatever reason is considered a late cancellation. You will not be entitled to a refund. No refund will be made should you voluntarily leave the tour early for any reason, including not being of adequate ability to ride a bicycle during the tour In the unlikely event of a tour cancellation, Butterfly Tours will notify you of the changes at least 6 hours beforehand for a day tour, and 2 days ahead for a long duration tour. In such cases, a full refund will be made to you as soon as possible.
